Dreams.. Woven and Words - This project springs from work by Tyrone based textile artist Clare McCarroll. I started with a poem based on the piece “A Flying Dream” and this developed into a full collaborative project supported by the Arts Council (North).
A Flying Dream
those gossamer wings beating quietlyto the rhythm of my hearta nebulous bird weaves silently across my mindin the centre good and sad meldedwhereon imagination takes flightheld softly in the grip of those vibrant flapping colourscoalescing and metamorphisisinginto something mythologicalpart feng-huangyin and yang expanding and contractingto the beat of wingspart Gamayunteasing me with myopic glimpses of paradisepart owlpicking randomly at my life bloodunprotected in the dark of nightI swoop down to the tactile dimensionwhere the soothing valleys of the cool fabricprovide a safe perch to rest on my flight……through those threads of fancy……a magic cloak brought to lifebestowing the wings of a flying dreamto free the possessorfrom this monochrome existence
